Situated in the Kerry Hill Architects-designed State Theatre Centre of WA, more than 250 design professionals and enthusiasts were the first to hear who was taking home the top awards in Interior Spaces, Product Design and Visual Communication on Thursday 3rd December, 2015.
The coveted Best in State Award went to Woods Bagot for Built (WA), and was considered by judges to “have brought new life into this older style base building, and by exposing the building shell in a creative and respectful manner successfully blended the old with the new”. The project also received an Award of Merit in the Interior Spaces (Corporate) category, and a Commendation in Lighting Solutions.
It’s been a big year for FORM with its open-air PUBLIC 2015 exhibition transforming urban neighbourhoods and regional landscapes. It earned the practice the Innovation Award, as well as an Award of Merit in Visual Communication (Exhibition).
Chindarsi Architects Pty Ltd received the Interior Spaces (Residential) Award of Merit for the deco-inspired Union Street Residence, while Design Theory was presented with a number of awards for Go Graphics and BamBamBoo.
There was an impressive selection of Product Design Student entries, which saw the prestigious Emerging Student Award, coupled with an Award of Merit presented to Peter Milligan from Central Institute of Technology in the Industrial category.
The DIA (WA) 2015 Awards, now in its 13th year, was proudly presented in collaboration with The Design Circus.
