ULTIMO Interiors meets Mercedes-Benz

A night of celebrating German design and engineering saw the launch of new upholstery studios from Rolph Benz, the Gentis solid timber range of cabinetry from Hülsta, and the new Mercedes Benz C Class Coupe.

A line of luxury cars made for a fine entrance on April 4 as ULTIMO and Westpoint Star Mercedes-Benz co-hosted an exclusive event in their first ever collaboration at the ULTIMO showroom.

Guests had the opportunity to get up close to the newest ranges from Rolph Benz and Gentis, as well as the latest addition to the Mercedes-Benz range, whilst enjoying the offerings by Voyager Estate, Heyder & Shears and the fine sounds of the iSQ string quartet.

“Both German design houses at the pinnacle of European design in their own right, it is all too fitting that we also launched the new Mercedes-Benz C Class Coupe,” says Ultimo’s creative director and interior designer, Andrew Thornton Hick. “Ironically, the Rolf Benz factory is less than 50km away from the Mercedes Benz plant just west of Stuttgart, so it’s wonderful that these two manufacturers of German engineering have found themselves side by side again on the other side of the world.”

The new Rolf Benz Nuvola platform seating system is the first in Australia. An extremely versatile lounge design that is as flexible as modern lifestyles demand, it breaks free from limitations of past platform concepts.

With a new way of constructing platform elements to avoid sagging and rippling in seat cushions across large pieces, the Nuvola frees up the spatial planning whilst maintaining comfort and aesthetics.

Breaking new ground with an innovative new patented solid timber manufacturing process and the latest state-of-the-art lighting system, the Gentis cabinetry from Hülsta is leading the way in revealing how good design enhances how we feel.

The lighting system allows not just dimmable remote lighting but also a swing shift from cool to warm light, which is an impressive new tool for designers to get precision perfect lighting effects for any time of the day in any season.

“The evening proved to be a brilliant occasion to truly celebrate German design and engineering,” Andrew said. Fantastic door prizes saw one lucky person take out the top prize of an AIDA side table by Tonin Casa, an Ultimo Interior design consultation, a new Mercedes-Benz for a weekend, and a Voyager Estate Wine Hamper.
